Apple Juice and Smoothie Recipes and Benefits

August 10, 2018 by msondesigns@gmail.com

Fresh Apple Juice Each Day Really Does Keep the Doctor Away!

Historical Highlights

Apples are a part of American culture, from the Biblical story of Adam and Eve to Johnny Appleseed. Apples date as far back as the Stone Age of the Mideast – as early as 2000 BCE – and archeological evidence from the Iron Age of northern Europe (Scandanavia,1500 BCE). History also notes apples from western to southeastern Asia, ancient Macedonia (today including parts of Turkey, Greece, Albania, the Republic of Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Serbia and parts of Kosovo) and the Americas.

Amazing Benefits

With no saturated fats and cholesterol, but abundant in dietary fiber, fresh apple juice is low in calories and has a remarkable list of essential nutrients necessary for growth and nutritional well-being. Apples are rich in antioxidant phytonutrients, flavonoids, polyphenols and tartaric acid. They’re high in C and B-complex vitamins, and trace minerals. Vitamin C helps fight infection and remove harmful, pro-inflammatory free radicals. B-complex vitamins assist the body’s absorption of enzymes. Potassium helps counter the injurious effects of sodium, lowering blood pressure and heart rate. The fiber in apples helps prevent absorption of bad (LDL) cholesterol, as well as protecting the colon from cancer-causing toxins.

Poison Seeds

Oh, and about the toxic compounds you may have heard about in apple seeds as well as cherry and peach pits (cyanide and other poisons). This is true, but you would have to eat a huge amount to feel any effect.

To be balanced here, some believe that the small amount of cyanide found naturally in the apple seed actually does our bodies good by killing bacteria and other harmful germs.
